PURPOSE: To provide a method for selecting the operation of a computer application program which depends upon the position of the cursor of a computer display. CONSTITUTION: When a cursor is at the position at which the execution of operations is required (69), a computer user selects a text description or symbol description for the operations (71) and, as a result, the operations are executed at the position of the cursor. When the cursor is not at the desired position (69), the user moves the cursor to a desired position (79) by moving the icon related to the desired operations (79) and executes the operations at the desired position (73).
