PURPOSE: To attain simplicity, high reliability, and cost and wear reduction by connecting a displacement means with an operation means, spacing the facing surfaces of an intermediate bearing member and a stopper member from each other by using a rolling member, and locking a steering column with the flanges mounted on a connecting member brought near each other. CONSTITUTION: A first intermediate bearing member 45 which can be axially displaced is mounted on the connecting member 40 between the flanges 41, 42 of a steering column support structure 43. A spacing means 46 is placed in a space between it and a stopper member 44 and connected with an operation lever 47 so as to lock a steering column. Rolling members 48, 49 mounted on a spacing means 46 are placed along an inclined portion between the intermediate bearing member 45 and the stopper member 44 and a means 50 for displacing them is provided. It is connected to the operation lever 47, and the intermediate bearing member 45 and the stopper member 44 are spaced by means of the respective rolling members 48, 49 to bring the flanges 41, 42 near each other to lock the steering column. |
