INTERPOLATION METHOD FOR DIGITAL PICTURE SIGNAL

PURPOSE:To provide an interpolation method by which calculation is possible with less memories and to prevent the occurrence of a false image in an output picture obtained as a result by correcting an error between coefficient data after respective coefficient data are corrected and coefficient data before correction from largest coefficient data so that the total value of coefficient data becomes a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:A digital filter 2 has the number of taps corresponding to the interpolation method and executes the product-sum operation of a coefficient outputted by a coefficient generating means 4 and a converted digital video signal. An interpolation coefficient is stored in a coefficient memory 5 as prescribed discrete data at every enlargement rate, and the interpolation coefficient is cyclically provided for the digital filter 2 as a filter coefficient. The group of the coefficients used for obtaining the interpolated picture element is used at a prescribed sampling period at every enlargement rate. Since coefficient data is corrected so that the total value of the coefficients fits to the prescribed value, interpolation enlargement hardly causing false image can be executed.
