PURPOSE:To obtain a thin-film magnetic recording medium wherein its coercive force, its orientation ratio, its MrT and its SNR are large. CONSTITUTION:A thin-film magnetic recording medium 30 is formed in such a way that a Cr substratum layer 34 having a thickness of 100 to 300mm and a magnetic thin-film layer 36 having a thickness of about 250 to 800mum are sputtered on a disk-shaped substrate 32, and it is featured that its coercive force, its squareness ratio and its signal-to-noise ratio are large. It is desirable that the recording medium 30 is formed by sputtering the Cr substratum layer and the magnetic thin-film layer while a magnetic bias voltage at -50 to -600V is being applied to the substrate. |
