<p>PURPOSE:To separate gaseous oxygen in air at a high concentration and at a low cost by feeding pressurized air into a two-column adsorbed packed with molecular sieve carbon, repeating pressurization/depressurization and recovering, gaseous oxygen. CONSTITUTION:Adsorbing columns 1, 2 are packed with molecular sieve carbon of >=85wt.% carbon content, 5-600m<2>/g BET specific surface area and 0.5-5mm diameter. Air pressurized by an air compressor 4 is fed into the adsorber 1 to adsorb gaseous oxygen. After a vacuum pump 6 is operated to introduce gaseous oxygen adsorbed by the molecular sieve carbon in the adsorber 2 into a surge tank 3 through a gas recovery route 2c, the product gaseous oxygen is introduced into the adsorber 2 to pressurize it. On the other hand, the product gaseous oxygen is introduced into the adsorber 1 which has completed the adsorption process through a gas introducing route 1d to clean it and the exhaust gas is introduced into the adsorber 2 though a gas introducing route 1e to clean it. Also, the gaseous oxygen adsorbed by the molecular sieve carbon in the adsorber 2 is recovered in a surge tank 3 by a vacuum pump 6 through a gas recovery route 1c.</p> |
