<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a titanium-base material for the golf driver head excellent in workability and weldability and having high strength (proof stress). CONSTITUTION:This material for the golf driver head contains 10-25wt.% V, <=0.25wt.% oxygen and the balance Ti with inevitable impurities and is excellent in cold rollability and cold and hot press-formability. The material may contain >=1 kind selected from 2-5wt.% Al, 2-5wt.% Cr and 2-4wt.% Sn. The hydrogen content is preferably controlled to 0.002-0.013wt.% from the viewpoint of welding. The material should have a beta-single phase and an equiaxed structure. The head is mass-produced at a relatively low cost by this method similar to the conventional method for producing a stainless steel head, and the large suit spot and long flying distance are obtained by this head as compared with the commercially available titanium-alloy driver.</p> |
