PRODUCTION OF L-GLUTAMIC ACID BY FERMENTATION METHOD

PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain L-glutamic acid by producing and accumulating the L-glutamic acid in a culture solution by using a specific mutant strain having the alpha-ketoglutaric dehydrogenase activity deteriorated as compared with that of a wild strain. CONSTITUTION:A mutant strain, belonging to the genus Brevibacterim or Corynebacterium, capable of producing L-glutamic acid and having the alpha- ketoglutaric dehydrogenase activity deteriorated as compared with that of a wild strain is cultured in a culture medium. This culture medium is a liquid nutrient culture medium containing 10-1000mug/l biotin concentration. A biotin action suppressor is not added thereto.
