The accuracy of error-corrected precision drive rotary actuators is, as a rule, greatly limited in time by the wear on tooth flanks. As a result of the use of a low-wear stepping motor as the rotary actuator, in conjunction with error correction which can be matched to the respective torque by means of a simple phase shifting operation, it is possible to create a very high precision, low-wear rotary actuator which retains its accuracy even over a relatively long time period. An increase in accuracy by a factor of more than 200 can be achieved in comparison with an uncorrected stepping motor.
