PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device which is high in display quality and is simple in the structure of peripheral circuits and a liquid crystal panel in the active matrix liquid crystal display device arranged with plural pieces of pixels consisting of liquid crystal cells in a matrix form. CONSTITUTION:A storage capacitance is constituted of a charge holding capacitance CQ and a CGS correction capacitance Cc. This CGS correction capacitance is the capacitance for correcting the voltage drop of a pixel potential by capacity coupling with a gate bus line GB. The charge holding capacitance CQ and the CGS correction capacitance Cc are constituted independently from each other. The area of the electrode of the CGS correction capacitance Cc is extremely small. The area of the electrode of CQ suffices with the area at which about the same capacity as the capacity of a liquid crystal capacitance CLC is obtainable. The area is made smaller than the area of the electrode of the conventional storage capacity CS as a whole.
