Low-pressure gas-discharge fluorescent lamp of small height, in which the small height of the lamp is obtained because the glass discharge channel is shaped such that the larger part of this discharge channel is in a plane to which the axis of the standard fitting is essentially perpendicular, and the ends of the discharge channel containing the electrodes are bent in the direction which is essentially parallel to the axis of the fitting and these ends enter into and are anchored in the lamp base. The discharge channel is constructed from two hot-formed glass sheets in which the patterns of the discharge channel are formed as recesses hot-pressed into the glass, and to which, as required, glass tubes are fused for the electrodes and for pumping and/or filling operations. <IMAGE>
