Device for cleaning a mat by means of a rotating brush which over part of its circumference is provided with fibres which, viewed in the direction of rotation of the brush, point backwards. A mat feeding means is used to feed a mat between the brush and a guide wall cooperating therewith. A cleaned mat is removed by a perforated mat collection plate extending obliquely downwards.
