The object of the invention is to bring about a differential locking action between different drive wheels. The two driven wheels are provided with hydraulic motors, the cylinder volume of which is variable. They are characterized in that the drive torque of the hydraulic motor increases with the cylinder volume. On each of the wheels, there is a device which measures the speed of the separate wheels. These measured values from the driven wheels are passed to an electronic control unit which compares these values and emits a control signal. It is possible to set a maximum value and a minimum value for the ratios between the two speeds. If one of these values is exceeded, the control unit carries out a control action, with the result that the cylinder volume of the hydraulic motor of the slipping wheel is reduced and the cylinder volume of the wheel with sufficient grip is increased. The result is that the slipping wheel becomes less powerful and the wheel with sufficient grip becomes more powerful. The cylinder volumes are controlled in such a way that the total number of litres of oil drawn off by the hydraulic motors remains constant at constant speed. The cylinder volumes are regulated so that the ratio of the speed returns to within the desired range.
