The invention relates to a piece of furniture for sitting and lying having a fixed base frame (11 to 14), a movable pull-out element (31, 32, 33) and three cushion supports (17, 27, 37) which, in a sitting position, form a seat-cushion support (37), an inclined back-cushion support (27) and a lying-cushion support (17) situated at the rear side. The lying-cushion support (17) is articulated by its lower end on the base frame (11) by means of hinges and articulatedly connected at its upper end to the back-cushion support (27) which, at the other end, is articulatedly connected to the seat-cushion support (37) by means of hinges (30). Worked onto each of the three cushion supports (17, 27, 37) is a respective mattress-like cushion (1, 2, 3), the seat cushion (3) extending at the rear, with a slope, through under the back cushion (2) and the back cushion (2) extending with its lower end correspondingly sloped. Thus, the three cushions (1, 2, 3) form, in an extended lying position, a plane lying surface, with the said cushion slopes overlapping and forming as narrow a gap as possible. The hinges (30) are arranged with their pivot pins on the seat-cushion support (37) in alignment with the back-cushion support (27) and, in the sitting position, freely enclose the rearwardly extended slope of the seat cushion (3) with their hinge sides (30S). <IMAGE>
