摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To provide a process for the production of starch and glucose in high efficiency using a photosynthetic organism, capable of efficiently producing a large amount of starch and glucose in a short time in improved productivity. CONSTITUTION:The cultivation (proliferation) of a photosynthetic organism is carried out in a medium containing sufficient amount of nutrient sources necessary for the proliferation, e.g. carbon source, nitrogen source, sulfur source and phosphorus source at a 1st cultivation temperature near the temperature to maximize the proliferation speed under irradiation with light. Thereafter, the cultivation is proceeded at a 2nd cultivation temperature to get the proliferation rate smaller than the proliferation rate at the 1st cultivation temperature and to effect a transient phenomenon to accumulate a large amount of starch and glucose in the cell. The latter cultivation is carried out in a state that the nutrient sources other than the carbon source and necessary for the proliferation (nitrogen source, sulfur source, phosphorus source, etc.) in the medium is consumed and depleted. Starch and glucose are accumulated in the cell by this process.</p>
