PURPOSE:To enable an increase of an input power factor and a reduction of higher harmonics in a power source. CONSTITUTION:The pulsating current from a rectifier circuit 23 is charged into a charge capacitor 26 through a coil 24 and isolation diode 25. When one pair of switching elements 28 and 29 are turned on by the drive signal from a switch drive control circuit 35, a high frequency load current flows due to the charging voltage of the charge capacitor 26 through the switching element 29, discharge lamp load circuit 36, coupling capacitor 40, and switching element 28. When the other pair of switching elements 27, 30 are turned on, a high frequency current flows through the switching element 27, coupling capacitor 40, discharge lamp load circuit 36, and switching element 30 due to a counterelectromotive force generated in the coil 24 connected to the positive output terminal of the rectifying circuit, and the charge capacitor 26 is charged through the isolation diode 24. |
