<p>In a small arms trainer, a gun (17) emits a pulse beam of infra-red light when a marksman using the gun (17) at a firing station (37) fires the gun (17) at a target in an image projected by a light box (31) and lens (33) and mirror (34) arrangement onto a diffusing screen (12). A concave Mylar mirror (15) reflects the screen image and is viewed by the marksman. The infra-red pulse is reflected by the concave mirror (15) towards the screen (12). An array (19) of cameras views the screen (12) directly and at least one camera is used to detect the position of the point of incidence of the infra-red pulse on the screen image. A personal computer (PC) (39) at the firing station (37) calculates the position of the point of incidence in the screen image.</p> |
