PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing an optical glass element in a high yield by solving problems such as deterioration in a mold and surface defects of glass in a direct glass molding method without requiring the reheating of the glass. CONSTITUTION:A glass receiving member is constituted so as to provide glass received by a glass receiving member with a free surface in a method for producing an optical glass element by receiving glass in a molten state, melted and dropped from an orifice with the glass receiving member, cooling the received glass down to a specific temperature and then press forming the glass into a specified shape.
