The invention relates to an adjustable keeper provided with a bar (33) intended to catch on a lock of a movable element of a motor-vehicle body. The position of the bar is adjustable in a longitudinal direction (B) and in height relative to a stationary surface on which the keeper is mounted. The bar (33) forms part of a shackle (32) capable of pivoting relative to an axis (40) and kept in position by friction during the adjustment. In a preferred form, the shackle (32) is mounted in an intermediate support (34) capable of sliding (B) in a rigid housing (35). A single screw (36) provided with a cam (50) makes it possible to set the frictional force, then block the position of the shackle (32) and at the same time fix the housing (35) on the body. <IMAGE>
