<p>A messaging management method for cellular radio paging systems in which a subscriber to whom a connection request is addressed may be temporarily unavailable. The method comprises the steps of: sensing that the subscriber (1) is temporarily unavailable; sending said connection request to a messaging station (2); storing a message in said messaging station (2) for delivery at later time to the temporarily unavailable subscriber (1); and causing the messaging station (2) to call said subscriber (1) back automatically in accordance with a configurable call-back strategy, in order to deliver said stored message to the subscriber (1). Furthermore, said step of storing a message is combined with a step of transmitting a short message to the temporarily unavailable subscriber (1) via a short message service, and said configurable call-back strategy comprises making an instantaneous attempt to call the subscriber (1) back on receiving a deferred acknowledgement of receipt of the short message, which deferred acknowledgement of receipt indicates that the subscriber (1) can be reached.</p> |
