PURPOSE:To suck the optimum amt. of ink and to minimize the amt. of waste ink by providing different modes to suction recovery operation such that a large amt. of ink is absorbed at the time of the replacement of an ink tank and a slight amt. of ink is sucked at the time of non-replacement. CONSTITUTION:When it is judged that the standing time of a recording apparatus is elapsed, for example, over one week or more by a built-in timer 47 at the point of time when the power supply closing switch 48 of the recording apparatus is turned ON, a control part 46 controls a suction pump driving motor 49 in order to operate a suction pump 50 only for a first time and automatic suction recovery is performed only for the first time in order to remove the thickened ink or air bubble in a nozzle or common liquid chamber. At the time of the replacement of an ink tank, it is necessary to suck all of the ink from a tank attaching and detaching part to the tip part of the nozzle. |
