<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method to facilitate insertion of a terminal into a housing with a tool by separating a terminal tail part from a spring arm part in the lateral direction with respect to the direction of the terminal insertion. CONSTITUTION: A housing 14 made of an insulation material such as plastics is equipped with cavities 30 that are used to receive each terminal 16. A tail part 20 and a spring arm part 22 of the terminal 16 that has been formed from sheet metal by means of press working or the like are placed separately from each other on both sides of the center line 36 of its base part 18. At a part of an edge 26 of the base part 18, a region to be contacted with an insertion tool is formed. In assembling a connector, the insertion tool contacts the base part 18 directly in the direction of arrow B and pushes the terminal 16 into the cavity 30 so that deformation of the tail part 20 and the spring arm part 22 is prevented.</p> |
