The invention relates to a method of producing a flat construction element with a grid system of through-holes (7). The through-holes (7) are obtained by a large number of preferably equidistant, parallel, in particular V-shaped trenches (8) being made on both the front and rear side of a disc-shaped basic body, the trenches (8) of the two sides enclosing an angle relative to one another and in each case being so deep that the through-holes (7) automatically result at the intersections of the trenches (8). In addition, the invention relates to the use of the construction element according to the invention as high-performance solar cells as well as to a method of producing a solar cell of this type, its use as a microfilter, as a microscreen, as a basic catalyser body, as an acceleration grid for loaded particles, and for influencing the flow behaviour of bodies around which a flow occurs.
