The horizontal rolls total load PHIC, the vertical rolls average load PVIC of the 1st rolling rolls 21 are detected and stored, the material to be rolled is further moved and until its tail end is gone out from the 1st rolling mill, the rotation velocities N1D, N2D of the 1st and the 2nd drive motors, the horizontal rolls total load PHID and the vertical rolls average load PVID of rolling rolls of the 1st rolling mill are detected in a prescribed sampling period. The compensating value DELTAN2D of the rotation velocity of the 2nd roll drive motor is corrected so as to satisfy the equation I.</p>
