A seedling planter and agricultural implement embodying same are provided by the invention. The seedling planter has a seedling tray indexing mechanism moving a tray relative to a clamping assembly which clamps and removes a row of seedlings from a seedling tray having individual seedling compartments. The entire row of seedlings is discharged to a feeding assembly in the form of a conveyor which discharges the seedlings individually to a planting assembly. The implement may include fertiliser and water supply means.
