(1) controlling the focus by driving the focus motor in a predetermined direction at the beginning stage of taking a picture; (2) reading the focus evaluation value of the object with respect to one field gained from the picturing operation by driving the focus motor; (3) counting the gradient of the focus evaluation value; (4) verifying the pro-focus according the gradient of the focus evaluation value; and (5) controlling the speed of the focus motor according the pro-focus position.
