PURPOSE:To enable a path to be seen easily by calculating the distance to a set destination from a detected current location and then switching the scale of a road map accordingly. CONSTITUTION:The current location of a vehicle is obtained by obtaining the driving trace of the vehicle based on the vehicle driving distance and advancing azimuth which are detected by signals from a vehicle sensor 1 and an azimuth sensor 2 and then matching it to the road map. A controller 6 obtains the current location and at the same time inputs a destination which is set by an input device 4. Then, a scale factor for displaying the road map from the current location to the destination on the display screen of a display 7 is calculated, the scale of the road map is switched, and then the current location and destination are displayed on the map, thus switching to a more detailed map closer to the destination and enabling a path to be visually and easily recognized. |
