PURPOSE:To enhance a photosensitive material in sensitivity and contrast and to reduce black spots by incorporating a hydrazine derivative, a cationic dye, and ascorbic acid in a silver halide photosensitive layer or a hydrophilic colloidal layer. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide emulsion layer or the hydrophilic colloidal layer contains A) the hydrazine derivative; B) the cationic dye selected from cyanine, hemicyanine, and rhodacyanine; C) ascorbic acid, to sensitize the emulsion layer. The photosensitive material obtained thus is processed with a developing solution containing sulfite ions in a concentration of >=0.15mol/l and having a pH of 10.5-12.3, thus permitting ultrahigh contrast to be attained and black spots to be reduced by adding such a sensitizing dye, ascorbic acid, etc., and using the stable developing solution. |
