PURPOSE:To realize an ink jet recording apparatus reduced in the consumption of ink by properly setting the applied voltage to a motor driving a pump in response to a mode to control the emitting flow rate of the pump. CONSTITUTION:In a printing mode, printing ink is supplied to a head element from a first tank 30 with no pressure applied and a pump 56 is not driven. Next, in a supply mode, the ink is supplied to the tank 30 from a cartridge tank 40 and, in a circulating mode, the ink is circulated to be supplied to each head at the time of the initial use of the apparatus or air bubbles in the head or a supply passage are removed to refresh the ink. In a pressure mode, the ink is pressurized at the time of the drying or clogging of the nozzle of the head to eliminate the drying or clogging of the nozzle. In a storage mode, the evaporation and deterioration of the ink in the tank and the leakage of the ink are prevented. When the driving voltage of the pump in the circulating mode is, set so as to become lower than that in the pressure mode, the leakage of ink can be reduced. |
