<p>PURPOSE:To connect an edit point of sequential image compression data to another one estimated in advance by providing a data quantity error calculation means calculating the subtraction of measured coding data from a calculated coding data quantity and processing the data. CONSTITUTION:A received image input signal is stored in a memory for each frame, subjected to DC transformation and variable length coding at a coder 33 and the result is stored in a buffer memory 33 and outputted. When a time code of an edit point is received by a key board 4, an arithmetic unit 3 calculates the number of bits of the coded data from a coding start point to the edit point based in a time code. Then the coding is made and the arithmetic unit 3 measures the number of bits of code data from the coding start point to the edit point to calculate the code error of the difference. When the code error is smaller than zero, recoding is made and repeated till the data quantity of coding becomes small. When larger than zero, not giving any effect are inserted after the number of bits of the coding data are sent.</p> |
