425,514. Roller - way conveyers. GLACERIES DE LA SAMBRE SOC. ANON., Auvelais, Belgium. June 4, 1934, No. 16601. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1933. [Class 78 (i)] [See also Group XII] In apparatus for transporting glass sheets from a rolling machine 2 to a position in front of an annealing leer 4, of the kind comprising a roller-way conveyer fitted, between the rollers 3 adjacent the leer, with members 5 which are raised to lift the sheet from the rollers during the charging stroke of the pusher 6, the upper ends of the members 5 are provided with a thin layer 5<a> of good heat-conducting material superposed on a layer 5b of material of low heat conductivity. The material employed for the layer 5<a> is one in which the product of the specific heat and density is relatively small, e.g. steel, copper, brass, zinc, &c., and its sheet engaging surface is of matt or corrugated form, as shown in Fig. 5, or may have upstanding edges 5f, Fig. 7, so that the points of contact with the sheet are as widely spaced as possible. The layer 5<b> may, as shown in Fig. 6, be constituted in part by a cavity 5d which either contains air or is evacuated. Fig. 8 shows a further construction in which the upper part of the member 5 is of semi-cylindrical form, the layers 5<a>, 5b, being applied to the upper edges of both arms 5<g>. |
