The page turner consists of a flat fixed frame (10) and two panels (11,12) lying side-by-side and parallel to the frame, each designed to receive one half of the book cover (1,2), with the spine (R) between them. The panels are mounted on the frame by compensators (100,200) which press the book against fingers (21,31,22,32) made to hold down the open pages, and which are linked to a mechanism which lifts them so the pages can be turned. Each page is turned, as required, by a roller (300) with its axis (D) lying parallel to the central axis (AM) of the panels, equipped with a pressure member (310) and a transporter to move the page from one side of the book to the other.
