PURPOSE:To provide a lighting system capable of always exhibiting uniform brightness distribution on a light radiating surface and suitable for a back light by forming a regional surface, where three surfaces, i.e., corners on the circumferential side walls of a casing and a bottom wall surface are crossed, into a three-dimensional curved surface. CONSTITUTION:In a lighting system, a three-dimensional curve surface 3e is formed of either one of a region surface where the inner surfaces of side walls 3a, 3b, 3b' at corners formed by circumferential side walls 3a-3b, 3a-3b' of a casing 3 and a bottom wall surface are crossed, or another region surface where the inner surface of the side wall 3a in contact with a curved tube 4a of a bending type electric discharge lamp 4, the surface of a projection 3c in abutment against the inner surface of the side wall 3a, and the bottom wall surface are crossed. Consequently, a part of the inner wall surface of the casing 3 is selectively formed into a three-dimensional curved surface 3e so that light emitted from the electric discharge lamp is reflected so as to sufficiently reach the circumferential edge of a light diffusion transparent plate disposed at a front opening with ease. |
