PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device which is high enough in illuminance and display quality, and low enough in power consumption to cope with user's demands by forming plural grooves in the light incidence surface and light outgoing surface of a lens layer which converges light on a liquid crystal panel. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with the liquid crystal panel 1 and a back light panel 10 which irradiates the liquid crystal panel 1 from behind. This back light system 10 is provided with the lens layer 3 which converges the light from a light source 8 on the liquid crystal panel 1, and plural grooves which extend in mutually orthogonal directions are formed in the light incidence surface and light outgoing surface of the lens layer 3. Thus the grooves are formed in the light incidence surface and light outgoing surface of the lens layer 3. Accordingly light emitted from the light source 8 and traveling in the mutually orthogonal directions is efficiently converged in the normal direction where the liquid crystal panel 1 is arranged through the light incidence surface and light outgoing surface of the lens layer 3. |
