METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR VIDEO DISPLAY

PURPOSE: To display a video by using a wide screen television receiver operating at 2fH such as a VGA or SVGA monitor. CONSTITUTION: AVGA or SVGA board 84 is programmed by a computer 80 to generate an RGB video signal displaying a video having the smaller number of scanning lines than the number of the normal horizontal scanning lines of a normal VGA or SVGA having the display aspect rate of a 4:3 format, so that a video having an aspect rate for wide format display can be generated. Then, the polarity and phase of each synchronizing signal of the RGB video signal are converted as necessary so as to be recognized by a processing circuit 52 of a wide screen television receiver.
