PURPOSE: To provide a computer system including an interruption controller, power managing device, and peripheral equipment for reducing power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A power managing device 10 is provided, and this power managing device receives instantaneous information indicating whether or not timer sound interruption is being processed by a microprocessor from the in-service register of an interruption controller connected with this device. When the timer sound state bits of the in-service register are set, a CPU clock signal and a system clock signal are driven with the maximum frequencies, and when the time sound state bits are cleared, a programmable counter 58 starts counting. The clock signals are driven with the maximum frequencies during counting, and when the counting is completed, the clock signals are driven with reduced frequencies, and the power consumption of the overall computer system can be reduced. |
