A swimming pool, spa or hot tub tubular water heater assembly having an elongated, hollow, metal tube housing, an electrical resistance heater in the tube housing for heating flowing water, having a pair of cylindrical heater ends projecting transverse to the axis of the tube housing, the tube housing having a pair of integral, offset, generally cylindrical projections extending radially outwardly, and oriented transversely relative to the tube housing axis, these generally cylindrical projections each having an inner diameter slightly larger than the diameter of said cylindrical heater ends, having peripheral walls, and having outer end openings, the pair of heater ends extending into these projections so that the heater end cylindrical walls are parallel to and encompassed by the generally cylindrical projections, and an annular weldment between said heater end and the respective one of said projections into which it is extended, the weldment being offset radially outwardly form the tube housing wall.
