A ladder arrangement comprises a primary ladder (1) and a support ladder (2) provided with a support foot (3) releasably mounted thereon. The support foot has ground engaging means located at positions spaced laterally to either side of the support ladder. The support ladder and the primary ladder are interconnected by a hinge bracket (4) which permits relative pivotal movement of the ladders, and which is adapted to retain the ladders in a predetermined relative pivotal position. The hinge bracket is releasably secured to the support ladder. There is a stay (5) extending between the two ladders, the stay being connected to one of the two ladders by means of a releasable connector (6). <IMAGE>
