Batch UV-sterilisation enables re-use of used containers

Procedure and appts. for the sterilisation by UV radiation of used bottle-shaped containers (B) prior to re-use, where the novelty is that a batch (BG) of at least two, or a continuous row of containers (B) is positioned under a corresp. gp. of permanently-illuminated UV lamps (1), which are entered through the necks (H) into the containers (B) for a period sufficient for satisfactory sterilisation, and are withdrawn to allow the batch (BG) to move on. Shielding (4) prevents UV radiation reaching the surroundings.
