<p>A door closing apparatus for closing a hinged door (21) comprises a housing (10), a shaft (11) extending substantially along a longitudinal axis of the housing and being rotatably mounted therein. A connecting arm (22) is mounted at one end of the shaft (11) and extends transversely thereto. The other end of the connecting arm (22) is adapted to cooperate with a guide track (24), which is formed on the lower end surface of the door, so that the shaft (22) is moved from a first to a second rotational position, when the door is moved from an open to a closed position. The apparatus further comprises a spring (13) or other driving means for driving the shaft (11) from its first to its second rotational position and releasable locking means (19) for locking the shaft in its first rotational position. The housing (10) of the apparatus may be positioned in a recess formed in the floor. The locking means may lock the connecting arm (22) in its first rotational position, in which the door (21) is open, and when desired, for example in case of fire, the locking means may be manually or automatically released so that the door is moved to its closed position by the spring (13).</p> |
