<p>PURPOSE: To provide a reduced energy consuming and flexible method for thermally decomposing liquid waste in an enclosure and converting the waste into solid and gas products. CONSTITUTION: Liquid waste 6 is passed through a pile of a solid element 11, which provides a contacting surface area per unit volume higher than 10 m<2> /m<3> , in an enclosure 10 equipped with an induction heating means 13 which is at a proper temperature for desired conversion, generally for thermal decomposition. Since the waste 6 is formed into a solid product 8 in the enclosure 10 during the conversion and a layer of this solid product 8 covers a solid element 11, the solid element 11 is regenerated after the solid product 8 is discharged from the enclosure 10. A gas product 9 is formed and expelled from the enclosure 10. The solid element 11 has a composite structure, one of which is a dielectric material which forms a central core and the other is a fire resistance material which forms a cover of the core and also constitutes an outer layer, and is a sphere whose diameter is 10-150 mm.</p> |
