The intake device of an internal combustion engine is characterized in that one end of a connection tube is fixed to a front end of an extension tube extended from a surge tank and the other end of it is slidably inserted into an intake manifold with airtight seal rings. Fixture members are mounted on the extension tube and the intake manifold, resp. and their upper portions are coaxially hinged. A control unit for moving the extension tube with the surge tank up and down is installed between the fixture members.
