Current meshes for sorting aggregates are defined by inclined surfaces provided with passage orifices located in a parallel arrangement inside vibrating screens, in two or more levels. The material, of various particle sizes, in keeping with the size of the orifices in said meshes, advances towards the outside of the screen in order to be conveyed by conveyor belts to its storage location. According to the invention, retention elements 10 are included, arranged transversely to the direction of advance of the material to be sorted, which gives rise to a rotational movement in the stones retained by such transverse elements 10, the particles of sludges rubbing together, sleeves which might carry the stones and increasing the duration of contact with the washing water, thereby achieving removal of plastic clays and thereby to improve the quality and cleanness of the aggregates. <IMAGE>
