<p>PURPOSE:To improve the running state of a magnetic tape by generating the sliding force toward an edge abutting part against the magnetic tape in accordance with the inclined surface or curved surface on the rise part succeeding to the face abutting part of a fixed azimuth tape guide. CONSTITUTION:At the time of the recording or reproducing operation, a magnetic surface 4a of the magnetic tape 4 is run in the state of pressurized contact with a head chip 2, the face abutting part 5a of fixed azimuth tape guide 5 and a tapered guide 8. At this time, the sliding force toward the upper side is generated on the magnetic tape 4 in accordance with the inclined surface or curved surface on the rise part 5c succeeding to the face abutting part 5a of the fixed azimuth tape guide 5, and one end part is pressurized in contact with the 1st edge abutting part 5b of the fixed azimuth tape guide 5, thereby the position in the breadthwise direction of the magnetic tape 4 is controlled. Then, the running of the magnetic tape 4 is facilitated, and the difference in the pressures at the upper end and lower end of the magnetic tape 4 abutting on the parts over the front surface of the head chip 2 to the curved surface of a head cover 1a is eliminated.</p> |
