A method of scanning photographic film to obtain a video signal, in which a plurality of scans is carried out on a frame and the resultant plurality of sets of data Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, are combined to produce a composite image. A region (A, B, C) of the composite image which includes data from at least two sets is selected and a correlation process is carried out in respect of the sets in the selected region. The data from at least one of the sets in the region is adjusted if necessary so as to optimise alignment between the sets of data. In an alternative development, two adjacent frames are scanned, and a correlation process is carried in respect of the scan data of one frame in relation to the scan data of the other. At least one of the two sets of scan data is adjusted so as to optimise alignment between the scanned frames. <IMAGE> |
