PURPOSE:To obtain a welt knit fabric knitted by plain knitting, having large strechability, especially in warp direction by eluting a water soluble yarn from a knitted fabric using a woolly processed yarn and a water soluble yarn. CONSTITUTION:(1) This method for producing a knit fabric having ultrahigh stretchability comprises alternately feeding a woolly processed yarn and a water-soluble yarn into a yarn feed port in production of a fabric knitted by plain knitting to form the knit fabric and treating the knitted fabric with a warm water heated to >=25 deg.C to dissolve the water-soluble yarn and heat-setting the treated fabric to finish the treated fabric. (2) This knit fabric having ultrahigh stretchability is obtained by alternately feeding a woolly processed yarn and a water-soluble yarn into a yarn feed port, using a needle having large hook as a needle for knitting the woolly processed yarn and using a needle having small hook as a needle for knitting the water soluble yarn and forming mesh which is knitted by both needles by making the mesh rough in the case of the woolly processed yarn and by making the mesh dense in the case of the water-soluble yarn, treating a knit fabric knitted thereby with warm water heated to >=25 deg.C to elute the water soluble yarn and thermally setting the knitted fabric to finish the fabric. |
