<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently remove malodorous gas produced from a sewage tank by disposing a honeycomb-shaped activated carbon in the flow passage of the gas between a sealed sewage tank and air. CONSTITUTION:A honeycomb-shaped activated carbon is disposed in the flow passage of gas between air and a sealed sewage tank such as a building pit and underground sewage tank. The honeycomb-shaped activated carbon used contains about >=30% active carbon and about 200-2500m<2>/g BET specific surface area. Or, such a honeycomb-shaped activated carbon is prepared by dissolving or dispersing a chemical such as urea and iodine in water or an org. solvent such as alcohol and then spraying the obtd. liquid on a honeycomb-shaped activated carbon or impregnating a honeycomb-shaped activated carbon with this liquid. Since this honeycomb-shaped activated carbon requires no maintenance, gives small pressure loss and allows gas to uniformly pass, efficient deodorization can be obtd.</p> |
