PURPOSE:To obtain advantages of both the motor with a brush and the brushless motor, eliminate their disadvantages, and obtain desired levels of characteristics, such as starting reliability. CONSTITUTION:A brushless motor includes a stator 26 formed by winding a coil around each tooth 38 of a stator core 22, having a plurality of slots; an annular rotor magnet 30 that is opposed to the stator in such a way that it is freely rotatable, and that is composed of different poles alternately positioned in the direction of circumference; and a sensor 36 that detects the magnetic flux of the rotor magnet 30. The coil wound around of each of the teeth comprise one circuit, and these circuits are simultaneously driven by bi-directional power application via a single-phase power supply. The number of magnetic poles of the rotor magnet is set to a value different from the number of slots in the stator. Further, the sensor is placed in a position opposite to the rotor magnet, outside any adjacent teeth of the stator core in the radial direction. |
