PURPOSE:To obtain the lube oil, containing a specific straight-chain olefin and a specified compound containing a polar group, excellent in processability and surface quality, capable of suppressing the amount of produced abraded powder, and useful especially in metal working such as rolling of a nonferrous metal or its alloy. CONSTITUTION:This lube oil for metal working contains (A) a 6-40C straight- chain olefin and (B) at least one compound, containing a polar group and selected from (i) acid amide compounds, (ii) acid imide compounds, (iii) acid ester compounds, (iv) benzylamine compounds and (v) copolymers of methacrylates and a monomer comprising an amine, an amide, an ether or a carbonyl compound. Furthermore, (A') a base oil comprising a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil or water is preferably contained therein. |
