<p>PURPOSE:To improve the reliability and the durability of an instrument for detecting the tip position of a strip without affecting the poor surrounding and the shock developed from a device by photographing a light beam image of the outer peripheral surface of a coil and detecting the tip position of the strip. CONSTITUTION:A part where the tip part of the strip 1 exists, is passed through the front of a light source 26 at every time of one rotation at the time of winding the strip 4 with the coil 2. A beam of light of the light source 21 irradiates the part not of the complete roundness by the existence of the tip of the strip 1 at the outer peripheral surface of the coil 2, and the part of the complete roundness, where the tip part does not exist, respectively, and a camera 22 photographs these light beam images and the image is transmitted to an image processing circuit 24. The image processing circuit 24 outputs the treated image to a tip position detecting circuit 25 to detect a shifting peak in the light beam image at each rotation of the coil 2 with the tip position detecting circuit 25. On the other hand, a pulse transmitter 23 detects the rotating angle of a mandrel 11, and since the detected signal is outputted to the tip position detecting circuit 25, these signals are combined and the tip position of the strip 1 can be detected.</p> |
