PURPOSE:To provide a system for detecting its own position of a mobile object with high accuracy even at a place, where the radio waves of GPS can not be received due to crowded buildings, concerning the system for detecting its own position of the mobile object by receiving the radio waves of a base station. CONSTITUTION:This system is constituted by installing plural radio base stations 1a and 1b for transmitting radio waves modulated by signals to identify the respective radio base stations 1a and 1b and by providing means for receiving the radio waves of the radio base stations 1a and 1b and identifying reception levels and the radio base stations 1a and 1b, base station information memory 5 storing estimated reception levels just near each the radio base stations 1a and 1b, map data base 6 for road or building information, means where a maximum reception level spot is located on a map from the information in the map data base 6 and the reception levels, and means 8 for correcting a present traveling position with the information of base station positions in a base station information memory when the passage of positions just near the base stations is decided or for correcting the present position by estimating the distances from the maximum reception level spot to the base stations when the passage of positions just near the base station is not decided, at a mobile station. |
